If you’re not the type of woman who keeps track of her cycle down to the hour, then chances are you’ll feel it coming a few days before. If you’re really unlucky maybe even the week before! Whether you’ve just started on a new birth control or find that your cycle changes its mind more times than you do then here are some helpful signs to make sure you’re prepared for when it decides to make an appearance.
1. Your skin is going nuts
A lot of the time women assume that in the lead up to their period that they will break up with acne but it completely depends on the person. Some suffer from dry or cracked skin when their hormones start to change, while others find that their skin is more sensitive to products and creams.
2. Everyone is against you
Or maybe it just feels that way. Even the dishwasher won’t cooperate and you feel like everyone on the road doesn’t know how to drive! In the week leading up to your period it can certainly feel as though nothing is going your way and it’s taken you triple the amount of time it normally does just to get your winged eyeliner perfect. Don’t worry it’ll pass.
3. Salt, sugar, fat, you’ll take it all!
Even if you don’t usually crave salty pretzels or fatty chocolate, you probably will find yourself reaching for it more once your hormones starting wreaking havoc on your uterus. If you can though it’s important to try and keep a balanced diet throughout your cycle, it is said that women who are regular exercisers and follow a balanced diet handle their periods better.
4. You’re exhausted
And it’s not because of the late one you had on Saturday night. A lot of women experience somewhat extreme fatigue a few days leading up to and also throughout their period. It’s fair to say it’s probably because of the raging hormones that are making your body a tad more tired than normal. Take it easy, get plenty of rest and don’t push yourself.

Most women tend to just experience bloating in their bellies and breasts but some do suffer from swollen hands, faces and legs during their period since there is so much fluid retention.
